One person died and another injured in an explosion that occurred Tuesday in the Jugo military quarters in Vyskov, Czech republic, said Czech Defence Ministry.

Jakub Fajnor from the ministry's press department said the explosion occurred before 09:00 a.m. in an underground part of the building used by the military police.

Fanjnor said the victim of the explosion and the injured man were Czech military police officers and their families were informed of the misfortune, adding that it seems the explosion was not caused by an attack or deliberate action.

The police arrived on the site soon after the blast and they later handed the investigation to the military.

Local media reported that the explosion was caused by grenades exploded in the quarters, but the information was not confirmed by Czech Defence Ministry.

Vyskov is the seat of a Czech military academy.
