JAKARTA, Jan. 31 (APD) — People in Indonesia’s regions passed over by the “Super Blue Blood Moon” phenomenon on Wednesday night, but were hardly able to get clear vision of the rare natural celestial event due to the clouds that covered the sky.

The event can be briefly observed by people in capital city of Jakarta before the clouds totally closed their visions on the moon at around 20.00 p.m. Western Indonesian Time (WIB) when the process entered its perfect phase.

Indonesia’s Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics agency of BMKG has previously forecasted that Jakarta’s sky would be covered with clouds during the event at intensity of 12 percent, lower than the other regions affected by the phenomena.

The agency advised people to use high-powered telescope and binoculars to have clearer observation on the event.

BMKG Head Dwikorita Karnawati said that the event was rare and exceptional as it only happens each 152 years in the same locations.

In Indonesia, the phenomenon passed over Sumatra, western half part of Java and Kalimantan with overall process lasted in 5 hours and 20.2 minutes on 23.09 p.m. WIB.

Karnawati said that Indonesian authorities have allocated spots for the people to observe the event in several cities in the affected regions.

“Observation of the rare natural phenomenon would be more interesting of it is conducted together with others. It would be a good education moment for the people,” she said.

Super Blue Blood Moon was a celestial phenomenon of simultaneous occurrence of Super Moon, Blue Moon and Blood Moon at the same time.

Super moon was the moment when the moon was in its closest point to the earth that makes it looks bigger and brighter, while the Blue Moon was a the second full moon in a month and Blood Moon was a particular lunar eclipse with the moon’s color turns into reddish.
