Chinese Vice Premier Sun Chunlan, who is now leading a central government group on the front line of the coronavirus outbreak, on Thursday promised to "look into" alleged problems in residents' food supply, after hearing reports from locals.

Sun was on an inspection tour to two of the local compounds, where she checked on the preventive measures carried out by the communities against the virus.

After hearing complaints from locals regarding the deliveries of food supplies to their homes, Sun immediately responded, promising to "look into the matter."

People in Wuhan are now relying on food deliveries to their communities, as the city continues to be under lockdown. Non-emergency vehicles movements also remain suspended and non-essential public venues are closed.

All practices of formalities and bureaucracy need to be abstained from, she said. "Only by solidly solving problems can people be more satisfied."

Later in the day, Sun also stressed the need for mental health services as the city has been under lock down for 44 days.

Latest on the outbreak: 3,042 deaths, over 80,500 cases confirmed in China mainland
