HO CHI MINH CITY, April 24 (Xinhua) -- A 122-year-old Vietnamese woman, Nguyen Thi Tru, has become the world's oldest person alive, according to the World Record Association (WRA).

Born in 1893 and currently living in Binh Chanh district of Vietnam's southern Ho Chi Minh City, Tru has 11 children, only two of whom are alive and are in their 80s, state-run Vietnam News Agency reported Friday.

She has lived a long healthy life and has never been hospitalized for severe illnesses, said the report.

The Vietnam Book of Records made public the WRA's recognition on Thursday.
