New Delhi, Aug.13,(APD) - In July 2019, the domestic car sales in India registered a drop of around 35. 95 percent and stood at 1,22,956 units as against 1,91,979 units of July last year.
The data released by the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) on Tuesday, further highlighted that it was the ninth consecutive month that had seen a fall in car purchases across the country.
In the last nine months the car purchases have dropped from 2,90,931 units to 2,00,790 units.
The sale of two-wheeled vehicles like motorcycles has also declined by about 18 per cent. Now the figure stands at 9,33,996 units while a year ago it was 11,51,324 units.
In only July the drop-in motorcycle sale was 16.82 per cent to 15,11,692 while last year in the same month the figure stood at 18,17,406 units.
Moreover, the data shows that the sale of commercial vehicles has also been affected. A drop of 25.71 per cent has been noticed, the figure stands at 56,866 units in July, though last year it was 76,545 units.
This month the sale of all categories of vehicles has witnessed a decline across India.
