A 5.8-magnitude earthquake hit the Iran-Iraq border region on Sunday, Geofon reported.

The quake hit at a depth of 10km. Witnesses said the tremor was felt as far as Iraq's capital, Baghdad.

There are no immediate reports of damage or casualties.
