The High Court in the Indian capital Monday issued warrants for production of four adult convicts in the Delhi gangrape case, who were sentenced to death just days back by a fast-track court.

The High Court's order came in the wake of the fast-track court referring its judgment for confirmation of death sentences of the four convicts, as required under the Indian law. The High Court has posted the matter for hearing Tuesday.

The four convicts -- Mukesh Singh, Akshay Thakur, Pawan Gupta and Vinay Sharma -- were given death penalty by Judge Yogesh Khanna on Sept. 13 for the brutal and fatal gangrape of a 23-year- old medical student on a moving bus in the national capital last December.

The Delhi police had charged all six men for the heinous crime. But, the main accused, Ram Singh, committed suicide in his prison cell during the trial, while the sixth convict, being a minor, was ordered by a juvenile court to undergo three years in a reforms facility.

The case shocked India and sparked massive protests in the national capital, compelling the government to introduce stricter punishment for sexual offenders.
