PARIS, April 17 (Xinhua) -- Of the 2,300 personnel on board French aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle, 940 have tested positive for COVID-19, French media reported on Friday citing a parliament document.

All members on board have been tested, with 940 positive, 645 negative and the rest still unknown, according to a document of the commission of foreign affairs, defense and armed forces of the French Senate, to which the army's health service have reported on the epidemic situation on Charles de Gaulle.

Around 20 sailors are hospitalized, including one in intensive care, following an outbreak of the coronavirus in the aircraft carrier, a spokesman for the French navy said on Thursday.

After exercises with other European navies in the Baltic Sea, the Charles de Gaulle returned to Toulon in southern France on Sunday, two weeks earlier than planned after crew members showed signs of COVID-19 symptoms.
