Hundreds of sheep have been killed in a truck rollover in regional Australia, likely highlighting the need for increased regional infrastructure.

Australia's agriculture sector is slated to pull the country through a difficult transition from mining to services and non-mining export growth, capitalizing on the needs of the emerging Asian middle class.

However, on Tuesday, a single trailer truck carrying 415 sheep crashed in regional New South Wales state, approximately 340 km northwest of Sydney, highlighting the dangers drivers face when transporting large amounts of livestock on potentially unsafe regional roads.

Fairfax media reported the driver was transported to hospital in a stable condition with minor injuries, however 300 sheep were killed.
