At least seven people were killed and 15 others injured in separate fog-related accidents in Pakistan's eastern Punjab province on Monday morning, local Urdu TV channel Geo reported.

The worst accident happened in Gujranwala area of the province where seven people, including women and kids, were killed and three others injured when a small van hit into an oil tanker.

Police said visibility level was less than 2 meters in the area as a result of dense fog, due to which the van driver couldn't notice the tanker coming from the opposite direction and hit into it.

The deceased include three women and three kids.

The injured were shifted to a nearby hospital where at least one was in critical condition, said the report.

In a separate incident in the province's Faisalabad city, 12 people were injured when a van hit a bus due to dense fog.

In some of the areas of the province, the visibility level was recorded as zero due to which railway road and air traffic was disrupted.

Islamabad, Peshawar and Lahore motorway was closed for traffic to avoid more accidents. Lahore airport was also closed due to which 12 flights were delayed.

Authorities said road and air traffic would be resumed when the visibility level improved.
