EU official: EU, China summit to back Paris deal regardless of Trump

The EU says the bloc will continue to work with China in support of the climate accord, regardless of whatever Trump decides to do. Officials say the EU and China will throw their full weight behind the climate agreement at a summit on Friday.

According to the AFP, a draft joint statement for the summit indicates the EU and China will stress the highest political commitment to implement all aspects of the landmark 2015 pact. The EU also says the bloc is ready to take a leadership role on climate change.
