CBA Roundup: Guangdong smash Guangzhou, Zhejiang beat Bayi

CBA defending champions Guangdong Southern Tigers extend their winning streak to 25 matches.

QINGDAO, China, July 15 (Xinhua) -- The Guangdong Southern Tigers defeated the Guangzhou Loong Lions 121-99 for a 25th straight win, while the Zhejiang Lions beat the Bayi Rockets 113-105 for their third consecutive victory in the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) here on Tuesday.

Yi Jianlian scored 21 points for Guangdong in his comeback from injury after missing the past four games. Wang Kaixin added 18 points, followed by 17 from Du Runwang. Guangzhou's Tian Yuheng had a team-high 22 points. Liu Fengbo and Marcus Georges-Hunt had 16 apiece.

"Everybody played well and we used our bench to rotate so that our veteran players had more time to rest," Guangdong's coach Du Feng said.

"It was helpful for the youth to improve in such a high-quality game," Guangzhou's coach Ding Wei said. "I'm satisfied with these guys' performance on the court."

Five players scored in double digits in the Zhejiang's win over Bayi.

Fu Hao got a team-high 24 points and 13 rebounds for the Rockets, Ma Yong contributed 18 points, and Arslan added 14 points.

Sun Minghui scored a game-high 28 points for Zhejiang, Hu Jinqiu collected 26 points and 12 rebounds, Li Jinglong finished with 16 points, and Zhu Junlong had 10 points.

In the other game on Tuesday, the Shanghai Sharks pulled out a late comeback in a 33-20 fourth quarter, winning a back-and-forth 88-78 victory over the Sichuan Blue Whales.
