Afghan and the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) captured two anti-government militants including a senior commander during combined operation in the northern Baghlan province on Sunday, ISAF said in a statement released there.

"An Afghan and coalition security force arrested a senior insurgent leader with ties to the Taliban and the Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan and one other insurgent during an operation in Burkah district, Baghlan province, today," the statement said.

Without revealing the name of the arrested senior commander, the statement added that the senior leader was in charge of a group of fighters responsible for a wide range of insurgent activities including murdering and kidnapping of people for ransom.

Taliban militants fighting the government and NATO-led forces are yet to make comment.
