Chinese tourists boost Sydney airport revenues

A rise in Chinese travelers to Australia boosted earnings for Sydney Airport, according to local statistics authorities.

The number of international passengers traveling through the airport rose 2.8 percent in the first six months of 2015. Growth in passenger numbers from China was very strong, up 16.8 percent, according to the Australian Bureau of Statistics.

Short-term visitors from China have more than tripled in the past decade, with 933,700 arriving in Australia during the 2014/15 financial year, according to the bureau.
