The set and costumes with quaint yet elegant designs brought a freshness to the stage.

SOUNDBITE (ENGLISH) JOSE LUIS CASTRO, Director:

"Our stage designs and costumes are helping us to represent the original Spanish town, enabling the audience to understand the society. I am very glad to see the warm welcome from the audience, their support made our performance successful."

Chinese actor Shen Yang, with his vigorous yet exquisite voicing of Figaro, has impressed audiences.

He also expressed his own understanding of the Mozart Classic and its inheritance.

SOUNDBITE (CHINESE) SHEN YANG, Actor as Figaro:

"An 18th century European opera is now played in China, in Beijing after hundreds of years, by a Chinese team of singers. This is an inheritance of a classic. What I gathered most from this performance was a new understanding of 18th century European opera and Mozart."

"The Marriage of Figaro" was shown between the 15th and the 18th of August.

Internationally recognized artists such as Ugo Guagliardo, Rosa Feola and Alessandro Luongo also took part in the shows on the 16th and the 18th.
