59 percent Southern Californians feel cost of living "unbearable": poll

A poll conducted among 500 adults from the Los Angeles TV viewing area showed that 59 percent of Southern Californians said the cost of living here is "unbearable."

According to local ABC 7 news channel, who organized the poll at mid-May this year and again in October. The latest result showed that people, who selected "unbearable" among opinions which also include "a major problem," "a crisis" and "bearable," increased from 50 percent to 59 percent in five months.

Meanwhile the poll also indicated that 25 percent local residents said they are angry about the cost of living, 24 percent said they feel trapped by the cost of living, 24 percent said they feel sad and 20 percent felt hopeless.

Gas prices were a significant concern for people, the poll showed 43 percent said that higher gasoline prices are a hardship that causes families to spend less on other things.

"Overall, the survey finds a number of key, quality-of-life indicators have deteriorated just in the past five months since last measured sentiment in May 2019." the ABC reported Friday night.
