Vietnamese PM to attend ASEAN Summit in Myanmar

Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung will lead a delegation to attend the upcoming 25th ASEAN Summit and related meetings in Myanmar from Nov. 12 to 13, a Foreign Ministry official said here said Thursday.

Vietnam's participation in the summit aims at contributing to ASEAN's solidarity and unity and promoting the successful establishment of the ASEAN Community in 2015, Pham Thu Hang, vice spokesperson of the ministry said at a regular press briefing.

ASEAN, or the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, groups Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.

Leaders of ASEAN's dialogue partners, including China, Japan, India, the United Nations and the United States, are expected to attend related events during the summit.
