Pakistan’s seafood exports up 6.37 pct in 5 months

**ISLAMABAD, Jan. 7 (APD) - **Pakistan’s seafood exports increased by 6.37 percent during the period from July to November 2017 as compared to the corresponding period of 2016, local media reported Sunday.

Local media, quoting statistics from the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), said that Pakistan exported fish and fish preparations worth 169.943 million U.S. dollars during July-November 2017 compared to the exports of 156.006 million U.S. dollars during July-November (201, showing upward growth of 6.37 percent.

Meanwhile, on the year-on-year basis, the seafood exports from the country during the month of November 2017 witnessed an increase of 7.11 percent when compared to the same month of 2016. While exports of fish and fish preparation from the country during November were recorded at 44.133 million U.S dollars as compared to the exports of41.204 million U.S. dollars during November 2016.

On the month-on-month basis, the seafood exports from the country decreased by 4.34 percent in November 2017 when compared to the exports of 46.137 million U.S. dollars in October 2017.

It is pertinent to mention that the overall food exports from the country witnessed an increase of 13.05 percent during the first five months of the current fiscal year against the same period of last year.

The food exports from the country during the said period were recorded at 1491.592 million U.S. dollars against the exports of 1319.381 million U.S. dollars during July-November 2016.

The total merchandise exports from Pakistan during July-November 2017 stood at 9.030 billion U.S. dollars against the exports of 8.173 billion U.S. dollars during the correspondent period of last year, showing growth of 10.49 percent.
