The number of COVID-19 cases in Asia's largest slum Dharavi located in Mumbai has crossed the 200 mark to reach 214 with 25 new cases reported on Thursday, as per the update from the city's civic authority.

Thirteen deaths due to COVID-19 have been recorded so far in the slum, which spreads over 613 hectares and is home to some 1 million people, after the first case in the locality was reported on April 1.

Mumbai is one of the five hotspots of COVID-19 outbreak in the western Maharashtra state, accounting for 78 percent of the total cases in the state.

As per the Thursday evening update from BrihanMumbai Municipal Corporation, the city's civic authority, the financial hub has added 522 new cases taking the total number of the cases to 4,205 with 167 deaths.

As per the latest official update on Thursday evening, India has 16,689 active cases of COVID-19 with 686 deaths reported so far.
