Su Bingtian makes China proud finishing 6th in men's 100m final

Chinese sprinter Su Bingtian ran a time of 9.98 seconds to finish sixth in the men's 100-meter final at the Tokyo Olympics on Sunday.

Marcell Jacobs of Italy won the gold medal with a time of 9.80 seconds, followed by Fred Kerley of the U.S. (9.84 seconds) and Canada's Andre De Grasse (9.89 seconds).

Zharnel Hughes of Britain was disqualified due to a false start. Enoch Adegoke did not finish the race because of injury.

Though Su did not reach the podium, he made history as the first Chinese athlete to reach the men's 100m final at the Olympics.

He set a new personal record in the semifinals with a time of 9.83 seconds, which was also the fastest time in his group.

The last Chinese track and field athlete to make history at the Olympics was Liu Xiang, who won the men's 110m gold medal in Athens in 2004.
