Uganda's star runner has failed to qualify for the 2015 World Championship to be held in Beijing, China this month.

The event that attracts top athletes in the world will take place at the National Stadium between August 22 and 30.

Kipsiro, who has won three Commonwealth Games gold medals, told Xinhua on Wednesday that as much as he tried to hit the qualifying mark, he has failed to make it to the event.

"This is part of sport and I guess I just have to keep working hard," said Kipsiro.

The athlete last weekend clocked 28:39:7 to finish second behind Kenya's Stephen Koskei at the Beach to Beacon 10K Run in Cape Elizabeth - Maine, the United States.

Early this year Kipsiro also boycotted World Cross-Country Championships in China citing death threats from one of the coaches Peter Wemali.

Kipsiro will also miss out defending his 5,000m gold medal at the All Africa Games in Congo Brazaville next month after failing to qualify.

"My focus now is to qualify for the Rio Olympics," added the star athlete.

The Uganda Athletics Federation (UAF) has already announced 10 athletes who have qualified for the 2015 IAAF World Championships. World marathon and Olympic gold winner Stephen Kiprotich is part of Uganda's team.

Squad:

Juliet Chekwel, Phillip Kipyeko, Jackson Kiprop, Ronald Musagala, Solom Mutai, Moses Kibet, Stephen Kiprotich, Kiprui Joshua Cheptegei, Timothy Toroitich, Abraham Kiplimo.
