**MANILA,

Sept. 29 (APD)

–** Presidential Spokesman Ernesto Abella said the Philippine government confirms US President Donald Trump’s visit to the country this November.

In a statement a day after the US State Department released its statement on the scheduled visit to the Philippines, Secretary Abella said President Rodrigo Duterte looks forward to welcoming the American head of state in Manila.

President Trump’s visit, according to Spokesman Abella, underscores the improving Philippines – United States relations.

The American leader will join other world leaders who will attend the ASEAN/East Asian Summit in the Philippines scheduled from November 13 – 15,2017.

“As host country, we hope to make the event productive and pleasant to our foreign guests,” Mr. Abella said.

He added the Philippine government “will let them experience our world-famous Filipino hospitality to make sure they would have good memories of their stay in the Philippines.”

Expected to join President Trump are Chinese Premier Le Keqiang, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and several others.

Prime Ministers Medvedev and Abe attended the APEC 2015 in Manila.

The Philippine government is also expected to declare the November 13-15 this year as non-working holidays to keep the roads clear and security measures in place.
