China: Xi Jinping leads CPC top leadership meet the press

Xi Jinping, re-elected general secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), led six other members of the Standing Committee of the 19th CPC Central Committee Political Bureau meet the press on Wednesday in Beijing.

Xi was re-elected general secretary of the CPC Central Committee at the first plenary session of the 19th CPC Central Committee earlier Wednesday morning.

"Re-election as General Secretary of the Central Committee shows approval of my work, encouragement," said Xi Jinping on Wednesday.

"Here, on behalf of the newly elected central leadership, I wish to express our heartfelt thanks to all other members of the Party for the trust they have placed in us," Xi said, "We will work diligently to meet our duty, fulfill our mission and be worthy of their trust."

Other members of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau are Li Keqiang, Li Zhanshu, Wang Yang, Wang Huning, Zhao Leji and Han Zheng.
