APD | Cambodia-China reached 6 deals

PHNOM PENH, April 29 (APD) - Cambodia and China had entered into 6 deals for economic development, market and investment expansion, education and technical cooperation between the two nations.

Prime Minister Hun Sen led a group of high-level delegation to Beijing since Thursday to attend the second Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation and a series of events and meetings from Thursday to Monday.

Mr Hun Sen and Chinese prime minister at the sideline of the forum chaired the signing ceremony of six agreements—such as MoU on Key Projects for Cooperation on Productivity Capacity and Investment, MoU on Mutual Support on Tax Affairs, MoU on Cooperation on the Export of 400,000 Tons of Cambodian Rice to China and MoU on Cooperation of Rectangular Strategy and Belt and Road Initiative.

It added that the both sides also sign two other deal such as Action Plans on Cambodia-China Community of Shared Future and Agreement on Economic and Technical Cooperation under Grant Aid.

In his remarks at the second forum of belt and road initiative in on Friday Mr Hun Sen said praise China for its belt and road initiative, According to a statement from Council of Ministers.

“The Premier said that the belt and road initiative has been well implemented over the last six years and brought along fruitful cooperation for region and globe in the context of physical infrastructure, trade and investment, as well as progress in cultural exchange between people and people by way of flows of trade, tourism, and technology.” the statement said.

He noticed that there is an increasing number of countries take part in this second forum, showing a greater confidence in one belt and road initiative along with strong support and pushing together for promoting peace, boosting economic cooperation for the prosperity of the people in the region and the world alike.”

He continued that the forum also provides the opportunities for all who believe in globalization and to open greater economic cooperation base on equal footing and long term partnership cooperation so that for greater shared and common interests.

“The one belt and road initiative provides Cambodia a great deal of social economic development. Evidently speaking the successful project of special economic zone in Sihanoukville where 161 foreign companies, including 148 Chinese companies, are now in operational and those are part of the one belt and road initiative.” He added. “Such projects in Sihanoukville province created more than 20,000 jobs and another additional 8,000 jobs when the second phase will come to place.”
