U.S. birth rate lowest since 1979: CDC report

Last year, Americans had the lowest number of babies in more than four decades, according to a report released by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) National Center for Health Statistics.

Some 3.6 million babies were born in the U.S. in 2020, marking a 4 percent decline from the year before, the report said.
