Portugal's Vindouro wine festival closed this Sunday after attracting thousands of visitors to the district of Viseu, around 400 km north of Lisbon.

With numerous wine-tasting sessions and a parade, the festival aimed to promote the country's most important wine region.

During the festival, visitors had the chance to meet wine producers in the wine museum, try their products and also learn about the history of wine in the Douro valley region in northern Portugal.

The festival commemorates the Marquis of Pombal, one of the most influential figures in the history of Port wine, a Portuguese fortified wine produced exclusively in the region of Douro.
