Emerald Lake, a green gem in NW China

Qinghai Province in northwest China is renown for having crystal-like salt lakes. Emerald Lake, also known as Feicui Lake, in Haixi Mongol and Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture is one of the beautiful salt lakes attracting many tourists to stop by.

This lake used to be a mining area. After years of mining, the water mixed with a high concentration of salt and became brine. Different minerals in the water give the lake amazing colors.
