U.S. military forces on Sunday said they are assessing the possibilities of civilian casualties after an airstrike on a vehicle in Kabul, in which they eliminated an imminent ISIS-K threat to Hamad Karzai International Airport.

"We are aware of reports of civilian casualties following our strike on a vehicle in Kabul today," said Captain Bill Urban, spokesperson for U.S. Central Command in a statement.

"We know that there were substantial and powerful subsequent explosions resulting from the destruction of the vehicle, indicating a large amount of explosive material inside that may have caused additional casualties," read the statement.

Multiple members from a family, including children were killed in the U.S strike in Kabul, reported CNN earlier.
