A three-day mourning was ordered by Burkina Faso's President Roch Marc Christian Kabore on Saturday after about 100 civilians were killed in an overnight attack on a village in northern Burkina Faso.

The government said terrorists struck during the night on Friday, killing residents of the village of Solhan in Yagha Province in the Sahel region and burning homes and the market.

Officials warned the death toll could further rise.
