A poll has found that 77 percent of American adults believe it's at least somewhat likely a terrorist attack could hit the United States in the next year – like the one earlier this week in Manchester, the UK.

Around 36 percent of the interviewees believe the possibility of a Manchester-like attack is "very likely."

Only 15 percent feel it's not very or not at all likely to occur in the US.

A total of 22 people, including 12 children, were killed after a lone attacker detonated an improvised explosive device at a concert venue in Manchester on Monday night. At this point in time, 75 others are still receiving treatment, with 23 among them suffering severe injuries.

ISIL has claimed responsibility for the attack.

The survey conducted by Rasmussen Reports, an American polling company, interviewed 1,000 Americans from May 23 to 24 through the telephone and Internet, one day after the deadly Manchester bomb attack.
