Child marriages spike during COVID-19 pandemic

Since the outbreak of COVID-19, a staggering rise in child marriages have spread through India. UNICEF estimates that at least 1.5 million girls under the age of 18 are married in the country each year – but another charity saw a 17% increase in distress calls related to early marriages.
