Asia Peace Film Festival continues in Pakistan’s Islamabad

**ISLAMABAD, Sept. 19 (APD) ** -- The first ever Pakistan edition of the Asia Peace Film Festival (APFF) is being held in the Pakistani capital of Islamabad.

Pakistan’s federal minister of interior, Ahsan Iqbal (C), inaugurates the Asia Peace Film Festival in Islamabad.

To commemorate the forthcoming International Peace Day to be observed on Thursday, a consortium of 11 Asian countries’ creative launched the flagship initiative with the support of Pakistani Ministry of Information.

The festival aims at supporting the common vision of Asia on the situation of human rights and other challenges being faced by the 60pc of the total global population.

As many as 113 films and documentaries, selected out of 940 nominees, of about 15 hours from 30 countries are being shown at the event at the Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA) from Sept.18 to 20.

Amjad Bhatti, the chief executive of the festival, told that the selected films of APFF-Pakistan Edition would also be screened in the 30 Universities of Pakistan.

On the occasion, Pakistan’s famous actor Jamal Shah said cinema is a very medium for both narrative and documentary being the most accessible and effective vehicle for promoting social change in the world as it addresses some very important social and cultural issues.

“The APFF would pave a path for the global communication for peace, originating from Pakistan to help develop a harmonized narrative for the region,” said Shah.

The finalists of APFF-Pakistan Edition would be decorated with National Awards from the Government of Pakistan.

The finalist films would be screened as a part of learning curriculum and case studies at the media and communication departments of universities as well as at the press clubs across Asia.

Delegates from across Asian countries including Indonesia, Iran, China, Afghanistan, Malaysia, Iraq, Turkey, Sri Lanka, South Korea, Myanmar, and the Philippines are participating in the three-day Asia Peace Film Festival.

The event is attracting a large number of people from different walks of life.

On Tuesday, a photo exhibition was also organized at the premises of Asia Peace Film Festival, which were selected from across the Asia to pay a tribute to the art of Asian artists.
