The first sculpture park in China featuring artwork made from industrial waste has opened in Changping, the northwest suburb of Beijing.

The brainchild of curator and artist Zhang Baogui, who is an expert in using low-carbon materials, the park includes 24 sculptures by 12 artists.

Zhang has been turning recycled materials - both household and industrial waste - into sculptures for around three decades.

He said that recycling industrial waste is not only good for the environment, but also helps create economically strong and healthy communities.

Zhang said he is also planning to incorporate more recycled materials into buildings and urban constructions he has designed.
