Beijing reports 1 newly confirmed COVID-19 case

Beijing reported one newly confirmed COVID-19 case Tuesday, the municipal health commission said Wednesday.

Tuesday's case is a close contact of a confirmed case reported Monday in Beijing. Monday's case reportedly had a meal with an asymptomatic case from the city of Dalian, northeast China's Liaoning Province, on July 18 before travelling to Beijing by train the next day.

No new asymptomatic cases or suspected cases were reported Tuesday, and one person was discharged from hospital after recovery, the commission said in a daily report.

From June 11 to July 28, Beijing reported 335 confirmed COVID-19 cases linked to the Xinfadi wholesale market, of whom 24 were still hospitalized and 311 had been discharged from hospital after recovery. There are four asymptomatic cases still under medical observation, according to the commission.
