A bus carrying about 30 passengers was kidnapped Monday morning by suspected Nigerian Islamic sect Boko Haram in Tourou, a town in Cameroon's Far-North Region bordering Nigeria, military sources who declined to be named told Xinhua via phone.

"The whereabout of the passengers who were kidnapped is not available. They were certainly attacked by the militants in an ambush," the sources said.

The sources said they only know about 30 passengers were in the bus when the kidnapping took place.

The sources added that nine Cameroonian soldiers were injured in an attack on Sunday by the same militants in Kerawa, a town in the Far-North Region.

In addition, 11 Cameroonian bus passengers were killed by suspected Boko Haram militants on Jan. 1 in the same region. Enditem
