Clean environment attracts more birds to Wuhan parks

Hundreds of egrets gathered to play and forage for food in the waters of Shahu Park in Wuhan, central China's Hubei Province. Shahu Park, which sits near the Yangtze River, is not only a natural green space in the downtown of Wuchang, but also a biodiversity model park in the center of Wuhan. In recent years, the ecology of Shahu Park has gradually improved, especially after water treatment, which saw the number of visiting waterbirds increase significantly.

Wuhan is a city of lakes. In recent years, the government has been taking effective measures to improve water quality. It is common to see flocks of birds in lakes in new urban areas. However, after water treatment, in lakes closer to the city center, such as East Lake and South Lake, the bird population has increased and flocks of birds can be seen in areas with better ecology.
