Canada's Michael Spavor sentenced to 11 years in prison for spying

Canadian national Michael Spavor was sentenced to 11 years in prison and deportation by a Chinese court in Dandong City in northeast China's Liaoning Province on Wednesday.

Included in the verdict was confiscation of personal property of 50,000 yuan ($7,715).

Spavor got convicted for spying on state secrets and illegally providing them to overseas forces.
