APD | Philippines temporarily bars travelers directly coming from China and its Special Administrative Regions

**MANILA, Feb. 2 (APD) ** – With the safety of the country and everyone within its territory, the Philippine government, upon recommendations by the Department of Health based on reports the virus affected all regions of China, President Rodrigo Duterte ordered the temporary ban on persons regardless of nationality, except Filipino citizens and holders of Permanent Resident Visa issued by the Philippine government, directly coming from China and its Special Administrative Regions.

He coursed his directives through Executive Secretary Salvador C. Medialdea. Presidential Spokesperson Salvador S. Panelo released the orders shortly before midday today.

The chief executive also banned the entry of any person regardless of nationality, except Filipino citizens and holders of permanent resident visa from the Philippine government, who within 14 days before their arrival in the Philippines, has been to China and its Special Administrative Regions.

A mandatory fourteen (14) day quarantine for Filipinos and Permanent Resident Visa holders coming from any place in China and its Special Administrative Regions.

President Duterte also issued a temporary ban on Filipinos from traveling to China and its Special Administrative Region.

The presidential directive also called for the establishment of a repatriation and quarantine facility.

He is due to preside over the meeting of the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases tomorrow and will be attended by various government agencies, offices, instrumentalities of the government, Government-Owned and Controlled Corporation, Government Financial Institutions, State Universities and Colleges and Local Government Units which were earlier instructed to adopt, coordinate and implement the said guidelines.

The Armed Forces of the Philippines and the Philippine National Police have also been alerted for any eventuality.
