Digital reading gains popularity in east China's Jiangsu Province: survey

Digital reading is gaining popularity in east China's Jiangsu Province as residents read a mean average of about eight e-books in 2019, according to a recent survey.

Residents in Jiangsu read an average of 13.06 books last year, slightly higher than 2018, and the province has seen a larger size of e-book reader population.

Around 84 percent of the digital reading was fulfilled by mobile phones, and free online reading is predominantly the reading habit in Jiangsu, with nearly 70 percent of the readers choosing it as a main way of reading.

The survey also indicates that 81.3 percent of the readers were satisfied with the reading facilities in the province.

Nanjing, the provincial capital, has been recognized as a city of literature by UNESCO because of its literary history and heritage.
