A line in northwest China's Qinghai Province has resumed services after a passenger train was stranded due to a locomotive malfunction, said railway authorities Monday.

A glitch occurred to the T373 passenger train at around 4:50 p.m. Monday when running between Lanzhou, capital of Gansu Province, and Xining, capital of Qinghai Province, according to the Qinghai-Tibet Railway Company.

The malfunction was caused by debris on the track following the collapse of an irrigation canal. The local government previously said that the train had been derailed. There were no casualties.

The train got moving again at 7 p.m. when a replacement locomotive arrived.
