Photo taken on July 17, 2020 shows Tibetan antelopes near Rongmar Township of Nyima County at the Qiangtang National Nature Reserve in southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region. The population of wild animals in the state-level nature reserve has increased in recent years thanks to effective protection efforts. The Tibetan antelope population in the nature reserve has exceeded 150,000, of which nearly 60,000 are now seen near Rongmar Township located in the heart of the nature reserve. (Xinhua/Chogo)

Aerial photo taken on July 21, 2020 shows a landslide site in Mazhe Village of Enshi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture, central China's Hubei Province. A landslide has blocked a river in central China's Hubei Province, forming a barrier lake that threatens nearby villages and the downstream city of Enshi, local authorities said Tuesday.

The barrier lake was formed on the Qingjiang River, a tributary of Yangtze River, in the Enshi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture, said the flood control and drought relief headquarters of Enshi City.

Aerial photo taken on July 21, 2020 shows the Golmud-Korla railway line that is under construction near Altun Mountains in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.

The laying of railway tracks for a new line linking northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region with Qinghai Province and beyond was completed Tuesday, paving the way for accelerating development in the country's western region.

The 1,213.7-km Golmud-Korla Railway links the city of Golmud in Qinghai and the city of Korla in Xinjiang and is slated to be put into operation later this year. (Xinhua/Ding Lei)

Photo taken on July 21, 2020 shows the Liujiaxia reservoir discharging floodwater in Linxia Hui Autonomous Prefecture, northwest China's Gansu Province.

The water flow in the upper stream of the Yellow River has been increasing due to rainfall. The Lanzhou hydrological station saw the second flood of the river this year with the water flow of 3,000 cubic meters per second, which occured at 8:42 p.m. on Monday. Authorities raised the emergency response for flood control to Level IV, as the water flow of the river surged to 3,320 cubic meters per second at 8 a.m. on Tuesday and the floodwater rose above alert level.

Since strong rain will continue to lash parts of northwestern China from Tuesday to Thursday, reservoirs in the upper stream of the Yellow River have raised their discharge volume to battle the flood. (Xinhua/Chen Bin)
