The Iranian Foreign Ministry said the international community has contributed their assistance to minimize the effects of the COVID-19 outbreak in the country, Tasnim news agency reported Wednesday.

The ministry already sent a list of Iran's medical needs to the United Nations, the relevant international institutions and the Iranian missions abroad, according to the ministry spokesman Abbas Mousavi.

Among the aid Iran recently received was a large consignment that was shipped to Iran on Monday from the World Health Organization, Mousavi said.

Iran has also received medical supplies from the UNICEF, China, Turkey and Austria, as well as assistance from Germany, Britain and France, he added.

A remarkable number of other countries are also considering the list of Iran's needs and delivering aid, the spokesman noted.

"The aid will complement the constant and effectual efforts made by Iran's administration and the Ministry of Health and Medical Education to control the situation," Mousavi said.

Meanwhile, he slammed the U.S. sanctions and their influence on the international supplies to Iran.

"The conditions created by the outbreak of COVID-19 in the country have further laid bare the negative impacts of the U.S. illegal sanctions on the people of Iran, particularly on the vulnerable groups," Mousavi said.
