Canton Fair phase two gets underway in Guangzhou

The second phase of the Canton Fair has opened, after a successful phase one. Running from April 23 to 27, the second phase will feature daily consumer goods, home decorations and a variety of other items. It's also the first time that the second phase is allowing foreign companies to showcase their products.

More than 24,000 offline booths are dotting the 18 exhibition areas, in addition to over 1.35 million products which are put on display online, during the second phase.

With the exhibition area and number of exhibitors at record highs, the fair has brought together purchasers from over 220 countries and regions, covering markets in Europe, the United States, and also the emerging markets.

For the first time, the second phase of the Canton Fair has set up an import area housing products from roughly 130 companies in 26 countries and regions.

The long-standing Canton Fair will run until May 5. Following phase two, the third phase will feature products including textile and clothing, footwear, office, luggage, medicine and healthcare, and food, starting from May 1 to 5.

Launched in 1957 and held twice yearly, the fair is considered a major gauge of China's foreign trade.
