Five drown while bathing in Sri Lankan river

KANDY, April 7 (APD) -- Five people drowned while bathing in the 'Hulu Ganga' in the Sri Lankan town of Kandy on Saturday, the Police said.

The Police said that four bodies had been recovered including that of three women.

According to the Police the incident took place in the Panwila area in Kandy, located in the central part of Sri Lanka.

During a joint search operation the Police recovered the bodies of three women and one man.

Another person was still missing as of Saturday evening.
