1 police killed, 3 injured by PKK bomb attack in Turkey

One policeman was killed, three others injured by the Kurdish Workers' Party (PKK) bombing attack on an armored police vehicle in southeastern Turkish province of Mardin on Friday, Dogan News reported.

The vehicle was attacked by bombing from PKK militants on Friday noon in Nusaybin district of Mardin. One policeman was killed in the attack, three police officers were injured. The wounded were being treated at the Nusaybin State Hospital.

A new wave of operations were initiated by Turkish security forces against PKK militants in Mardin's Nusaybin district.

Since a ceasefire between the government and the PKK collapsed last July, Turkish security forces have been conducting a major campaign against the group in the southeast of the country.

More than 260 members of Turkish security forces and thousands of PKK members have been killed inside Turkey and in northern Iraq.
