Iran's president orders mass production of indigenous COVID-19 test kits

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani on Saturday called for boosting production of homemade test kits for the diagnosis of the novel coronavirus, Tasnim news agency reported.

In an order to the Vice President for Science and Technology Sorena Sattari, Rouhani demanded the use of all domestic capacities and full support to scientific and research centers to increase the production of coronavirus diagnostic test kits.

He said that by the increase in the production of the test kits, the country would be able to meet domestic needs and to export them abroad.

The Iranian Foreign Minister, Mohammad Javad Zarif, said earlier on the day that 40,000 "advanced Iran-made test kits" have been exported to Germany, Turkey and other countries.
