Wimbledon: Querrey stunned Murray, Djokovic pulled out at quarter-finals

Andy Murray and Novak Djokovic -- the pair who dominated men's tennis last year -- both departed the Wimbledon quarter-finals on Wednesday banged up.

Defending champion and world No. 1 Murray bothered by hip problem in quarter-finals lost 3-6 6-4 6-7 (4) 6-1 6-1 to Wimbledon giant killer Sam Querrey.

Querrey becomes the first American man to reach a grand slam semi-final since Andy Roddick in 2009.

"The whole tournament I've been a little bit sore. But I tried my best right to the end. You know, gave everything I had. I'm proud about that. But it's obviously disappointing to lose, you know, at Wimbledon. There's obviously an opportunity there. So, I'm sad that it's over." Murray said.

Three-time champion Djokovic retired from his match against Tomas Berdych because of an lingering elbow injury.

Plagued by medical time-outs at the end of the first set, and again during the second. The former World No.1 managed to go back to the court but remained in visible discomfort. After just two games of the second set, he felt unable to continue.

After his defeat by Berdych, Djokovic revealed the elbow had been troubling him for more than a year, and that he may even take a six-month break from tennis.
