China's railways transport over 35,000 tonnes of epidemic control supplies

China's railways have transported some 35,610 tonnes of supplies for prevention and control of the novel coronavirus outbreak as of 6:00 p.m. Thursday, said the China State Railway Group Co., Ltd Friday.

The amount of the supplies stood at 123,086 pieces and included 30,951 tonnes of life items.

Railway passenger trips dropped 89 percent year on year to nearly 1.17 million on Thursday, and 1.3 million trips were expected on Friday, down 87.4 percent from a year ago, the company said.

As of Thursday, a total of 502 passengers were reported to have fever symptoms, it said.

All railway stations will continue to carry out temperature measurement for passengers entering and leaving the stations, and passengers are asked to wear masks and cooperate with railway departments when taking trains.
