APD | Lexus 2019 sales achieve a record high of 10% from previous year’s

MANILA – The global sales of the high-end Lexus for January to December 2019 marked a new yearly record high of 765,330 units or 10% increase from the previous year.

In a statement released late Tuesday afternoon, the well-received UX and the redesigned ES, which were first introduced in 2019, and the popular RX, which had a partial redesign in August 2019, the growth of the luxury market in China helped boost overall sales.

Sales in North America reached an approximate of 325,000 units which was comparable with 2018 sales while sales in China including Hong Kong reached about 202,000 units with an increase of 25%. Europe accounted for 87,000 units with an increase of 14%, Japan had 62,000 with an increase of 13% as sales in East Asia was estimated at 34,000 units with an increase of 8% as Middle East motorists bought about 32,000 units which saw an 8% increase.

From the time of our founding, we at Lexus have been earnestly pursuing the spirit of innovation and untiring evolution and we will continue to take up the challenge of building vehicles that exceed our customers’ expectation,” said Koji Sato, Lexus International President in a statement.

He added forward looking, based on their “Lexus Electrified” vision the company will expand their lineup of electrified vehicles beginning with the launch of their first BEV production model, the US300e.

The Lexus chief executive said they will further evolve the Lexus DNA to achieve the balance of ride comfort and quietness with driver confidence and engagement. He added utilizing advanced Lexus technologies including the integrated control of drive power, from over many years of developing electric motor control technologies in their hybrid vehicles, they will provide an inspiring and enjoyable driving experience unique to Lexus, President Koji Sato added.
