Protests erupt in India after alleged gang rape, murder of girl

Violent protests and rioting erupted in eastern India on Sunday, over the alleged gang rape and murder of a teenage girl. Local media reported that the girl went missing on Saturday and was found dead the following morning – less than a kilometer from her home in the Kalagach area of West Bengal.

Villagers took to the streets to demand justice – blocking a national highway and burning at least three police vehicles and two buses before clashing with police.
